Ladybug Designs is a small, charming Canadian business that came to me in need of a visual identity to match its warm, nature-inspired personality. When we first met, they had no established branding, so I had the exciting opportunity to build everything from the ground up.
This page documents key moments and visuals from the overall branding process.
Typography Exploration
I began my creative journey by experimenting with a variety of fonts and type combinations. My goal was to capture the brand’s friendly and approachable tone while still maintaining a sense of professionalism.
We explored playful serifs, clean sans-serifs, and handwritten styles to find the right balance between charm and clarity.

Color Palette Development
Rather than relying on the typical red-and-black ladybug color scheme, Ladybug Designs opted for a more unique and modern palette:
Black, teal, white, and purple.
This choice helped create a distinctive and fresh look—cool, contemporary, and slightly whimsical. Teal and purple added personality and softness, while black and white offered strong contrast and versatility across digital and print applications.

Logo Discovery & Refinement
The logo design process involved a wide exploration of styles—from literal ladybug illustrations to more abstract and minimal interpretations. After several iterations, we landed on a final version that felt both unique and instantly recognizable, while still being scalable for use across packaging, signage, and digital materials.

Branded Print Materials
To support their in-store promotions, we designed a bilingual coupon card—one side in French and the other in English. The card reflects the brand colors and typography, and acts as a friendly, tangible expression of the brand experience.

On-Site Signage
As part of the brand rollout, we also captured photographs of the newly installed sign at the business address. Seeing the branding come to life in the real world—bright, inviting, and proudly displayed—was a rewarding moment in the project.
