How it works
The tool analyzes your image directly in the browser, samples its pixels, groups similar colors together, and surfaces the tones that define the image most clearly. Your file stays on your device unless you choose to do something else with it.
What you can use it for
Use it for web design, branding, photography, graphic design, illustration, social media assets, or UI design when you need a palette that starts from a real image instead of a blank canvas.
HEX, RGB, and HSL
HEX is the compact format commonly used in CSS and design tools. RGB describes a color through red, green, and blue channel values. HSL expresses the same color through hue, saturation, and lightness, which can be easier to reason about while refining palettes.
Questions
-
No. The image is analyzed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server unless you choose to download or copy something yourself.
-
HEX is the short code you’ll see in CSS and most design tools. RGB is red, green, and blue as numbers. HSL is the same color as hue, saturation, and lightness — often easier when you’re adjusting a palette.
-
Copy as HEX, CSS variables, or JSON, or download a PNG, CSS, or JSON file. Drop the values into your design tool, stylesheet, or handoff notes.
-
JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF, up to about 10 MB. If a file won’t open, try exporting it again or using a smaller copy.
-
Yes. Edit a swatch here, send the palette to the Palette Refiner to balance or harmonize it, or open it in the Palette Creator if you want to reshape the harmony on the color wheel.
