Drakon Track Time Attack. Honda Cup BG 2026

Last Saturday, we traded the city’s hum for the raw roar of Bulgarian motorsport. Our destination: Drakon Track in Kaloyanovo—a circuit that seems to pulse with life the second the first engine echoes across the asphalt.

The occasion was Honda Cup BG & Friends 2026 (Round 1). While the event spanned three days, we dropped in on Saturday for the Time Attack challenges. This is where the fluff is stripped away; it’s a discipline of pure precision, where control is just as vital as raw speed.

The Journey and the Mindset

The drive there carried that familiar mix of anticipation and curiosity. Early morning light, quiet coffee-fueled conversations, and the growing sense of adrenaline waiting at the end of the road.

My friend was on the grid, competing in “Street and Tuning” division. I’ve always admired the mindset required to step onto the track. It’s a vulnerable place to be—a place where skill is measured in milliseconds, and every late apex is visible to the crowd.

The result? Last place. But that’s just a statistic. If you’re only looking at the leaderboard, you’re missing the real story.

Beyond the Rankings

What actually unfolded wasn’t about trophies. It was about the atmosphere—the heavy scent of heated rubber and fuel hanging in the air, the rhythmic launch of cars, and the quiet focus of mechanics over an open hood.

I didn’t go there to document winners. I went to capture a narrative.

Through the Lens

Behind the camera, the day revealed itself as a sequence of textures and moments:

  • The Geometry: The white and red curbs slicing through the Kaloyanovo landscape.
  • The Contrast: Bright blue BMWs and modified Civics parked under vivid red and blue tents.
  • The People: The shared smiles in the paddock and the quiet intensity of spectators watching from the bleachers.

Finishing last doesn’t diminish the courage it takes to show up; if anything, it frames it. It’s easy to race when you’re the fastest; it’s much harder to push your limits when you know the podium is out of reach.

Final Thoughts

This photo series isn’t a record of performance metrics. It’s about presence. It’s a visual exploration of the unique energy at Drakon—a place where speed meets stillness, and where the most compelling stories often happen far away from the finish line.

Sometimes, the real story isn’t in who wins. It’s in everything else.
