Healthy dessert photography is about capturing the beauty and freshness of food that’s good for you. That was the goal of this shoot for Protein Class, a health-focused restaurant located in Liulin, Sofia. I was invited by a friend, who worked as a chef there, to create photos of their signature cakes and desserts for Instagram.
The project felt personal. Not only was I photographing in a cozy restaurant, but it was also in Liulin – the neighborhood where I grew up. This made the creative process even more meaningful.
The session took place inside the restaurant, using only natural light. The space featured clean surfaces and a warm, modern atmosphere, which helped highlight the colors and textures of each dessert.
I focused on creating a set of bright, inviting images that reflect the restaurant’s values: health, flavor, and balance. In each photo, I used shallow depth of field to bring out fine details. I also kept the styling minimal to ensure the desserts remained the star of the shot.
To support the brand’s social media strategy, I delivered images optimized for Instagram. Additionally, I provided clear file names, alt text, and suggested captions to align with the healthy dessert photography theme and improve their online visibility.
